Bulls For Sale

An ideal bull, like an ideal female, must have a firm footing with a straight top-line. Both bulls and females must have a good form to perform well on the farm. In addition to good form an ideal bull to us means also ranking highly in the milk and longevity categories meaning he will pass down good genetics to produce perfect offspring.

Herd Sire Prospects For Sale

Each year we take the very best prospects and Offer them to others. Our criteria is a bull that will provide problem-free production with calving-ease, correct structure, docility, along with optimum performance and a superior Dam that excels in a low-input grass paradigm. They hold their flesh as they all rank in the elite 1% of the breed on $EN.

BFA 2024 Bulls For Sale

SVR Prince Copeland 8201F
SVR Prince Copeland 8201F
Our 2024 crop of Bulls have not disappointed us with their performance and phenotype. We do not creep so the weights you see are from grass and mother’s milk. These bulls include many of the elite and legendary Wye Sires in their pedigrees.

Birthweight

Every bull is considered a calving-ease bull and carries the credentials to be suitable to breed to heifers. As a group they have an average BW of 64# with a CED value of +5.3 and BW EPD of – 0.36. These bulls are built from multiple generations of documented calving-ease to provide trouble-free production for the full-time and part-time cattleman.

$ EN – Energy

Because we don’t chase maximum growth genetics that require high inputs, our cattle are easy fleshing. Our cattle thrive in a low-input grass-based management system. Every bull offered ranks in the elite 1% for $EN. This means they require less inputs to hold their flesh and function.

Weaning Weights

The average weaning weight of the group is 595#. Nearly every Mama has weaned them at 50% of her body weight, as our average cow weighs 1100-1200#. We are pleased with these results given our low-input management practices. Our goal is
profitability. We feed less so have less cost in these cattle, yet still average nearly 600# at weaning. You will find most of our bulls will gain weight during breeding season and not “melt-down” as they have not been fattened like a feedlot steer.

Maternal Strength

These bulls are built from a strong maternal base. Our cows are selected for and expected to perform on grass – or they are culled. Each of these bulls is backed by at least one but sometimes multiple good cows.

Embryo Transfer

Some of these bulls are a result of our ET program. We have an aggressive ET program where we utilize proven superior cows to extend the characteristics and traits of the proven blood which increases the consistency of our program.

Why WYE Genetics

The Wye herd is one of the oldest programs in the country. It is a closed herd derived from imported genetics in the 1930’s. Wye genetics have been and are consistent in kind and purpose. The herd is well known for its maternal strength and has been utilized by breeders across the country in a variety of environments. These genetics fit our management goals for profitability.
